Egyptian SA-2 surface to air missile site. The image shows launchers, central bunker, and various auxiliary buildings. In the corner of the missile site (in the top of the image) there is a bunker. Near the bunker just outside of the area there are missile storage tubes. There is another bunker, close the right corner of the area.


Central bunker of the SA-2 site. 6 launchers are around the central bunker. Fan Song radar is in the corner of the central bunker. Shadow of the radar shows antennas.  On the right is place for anti aircraft artillery or for short range surface to air missiles. In the top, missile transporter truck is bringing missile to the launcher.

Situation 09. April 2013. The missile transport truck is in other place.



Elevated place for radar. The place is probably for P-18 early warning VHF radar or for "Side Net" or "Odd Pair" height finding radar.

Empty SA-2 missile site just about one kilometer north from the site mentioned above. There are several trucks with missile trailer in the low left of the image.

AA gun or other short range air defence site is located to right side of the SA-2 site.

On the low left of the image there is an elevated place for radar. The radar is probably P-12 or P-18 early warning VHF radar.


The upper image is taken in 2013 and the lower image 2003. The launchers and the truck and the VHF radar are in same places in both images. This site may be inactive and it has been left for decoy purpose.

An interesting empty SA-2 site. Central bunker is differnet than in the other bunkers. The site has also an elevated position for an early warning radar.
